A space for conversation through art.

About us

"Starting out as a way for myself to speak about the African art that I loved, Àṣẹ has grown into something which aims to build a community for open conversation no matter where those speaking come from. With Àṣẹ I believe that every voice has something important to say, I aim to platform and give chance to those who are often silenced in the sometimes scary world of art. It has become much more than a way for just myself to speak, I see it like an  international megaphone shouting out the beauty and joys of art."

'Tell a tale' project

Tell a tale is a mixed media series of short stories delving into the creative minds of artists with each episode sharing a narrative or experience that has significantly impacted their artistic journey. The series offers a glimpse into the pivotal moments that have influenced their work through combining storytelling, visual arts and sound.

As the series continues all featured artists come together for a collaborative project uniting their individual styles on a blank canvas creating a single large-scale spray paint piece. This symbolises the often found interconnection between individuals and the stories they share, reflecting on how personal narratives often manifest through artistic expression. The audience is welcomed into an environment exploring the relationship between experience and art and what is created through that partnership.

Project '26

In summer 2026 Àṣẹ aims to open a temporary physical space in Lusaka, Zambia, working with artists from the region and diaspora to create an area where the energies of art can flow openly. Contact us for more information on how to join the project or for other general enquiries.
